ill, valentines, birthday, ill, better

Last thursday Joseph woke with a goopey eye, by that night it was all red and goopey, by Friday morning both eyes were goopey, red and looked bad, so off we went to the Dr. by 9:50am.
After the Dr. listened to Woody's heart (from Toy Story, Sarah brings him just about everywhere with us) the Dr. comfirmed "yep it's pink eye". Off to the pharmacy at 10:20am, it started the snow flurries by this time and home by 10:40am. Started Joseph on his 10 day medicine, ordered ice cream cake for Brent's birthday on sunday, and we played.

By 2:30 I had a call from Dairy Queen asking if I was coming soon to pick up the cake, roads were getting bad. Off we went to DQ for the cake and home again by 3:15. Brent arrived home shortly after to finish the days work from home. Started waiting for Megan to return home around 4:00, but with all the snow it was closer to 6:00 by the time she got home. We watched the bus get stuck coming up our street, it backed down the street and had to come up the other side of our house.

Saturday Valentines Day! The kids thought it was the Best Valentines Ever. With getting Valentines from mom and dad, getting to buy a new toy, getting McD's for lunch, and playing all day long, What could be better!?

Sunday, I woke around 2:00am and felt weird. My back hurt and my stomach felt weird. So for the next 2 hours I tossed and turned and couldn't really sleep. I went downstairs to try and sleep on the couch around 3:30am. Finally slept until around 6:00am, woke up and thought I am going to be sick, ran to the bathroom. Yuck. So for the rest of the day, Brent's birthday, I spent my hours on the couch (and in the bathroom throwing up), watching kids play. Brent had to speak in a different ward, so he went to their sacrament and came home and took care of me and the kiddos. He was such a great help to just let me lay there and get better. By 6:00pm I was feeling better and was able to eat some, we sang to Brent and had birthday cake, gave the kids baths and it was off to bed by 10:00.

Looking back, Brent was sick on his birthday the last 2 years, I guess it was my turn this year. Happy Birthday Brent!!! I hope it was a good one, WE LOVE YOU!

Now we are all better, except little runny noses here and there, but who doesn't have one of those or isn't sick this time of year!? (these are old pictures, sort of, taken in Jan., I need to take some new ones, the camera has been hibernating lately)

Lately

The kids have been able to see little movements on my belly from the baby kicking.

We have a name chosen for our baby....Daniel Jacob. We are not positive but we will see when he gets here. Funny thing about the name, I was looking on babycenter.com and pulled up Daniel, it has been in the top 30 names on babycenter for the last 5 years, and top 8 in the U.S. Sibling names that other people have chosen that also chose Daniel, Sarah, Elizabeth (Sarah's middle name), Joseph, Michael(Joseph's middle name), David, Matthew (the other 2 names we were considering). Hmmmmm..

Sarah's new comment to us,
mom says: "No, we can't read any more books."
Sarah: "why not?"
mom: "because it is time for bed, lights out, no more reading"

Megan has joined Girl Scouts and Loved her 1st time going. It is 2 times a month and she is soooo excited about it all.

We had some beautiful weather this past weekend. It was so nice to go out without jackets on and not be bundled up. Joseph said it was almost like summer, I told him it could snow tomorrow, he looked at me like I was crazy. It is true though you never know with Iowa weather. Now it looks like we might get hit with snow again tomorrow.

A nice bright reddish orange crayon somehow managed to wiggle its way into our dryer...now we have a load of tan clothes with orange all over them. It will come out eventually right?

pictures

I finally got around to scanning a few ultrasound pictures of our baby boy. The kids I think are glad we know what their new sibling will be, even though we haven't decided on a name yet. We call him baby boy, he even has his own Mii on the Wii! 3 of the pictures are 3D(4D)? So you can see him pretty good and the other is just the regular ultrasound look. He kept putting his hands up by his face so we have a couple more with his hands completely covering his face, but she was able to get some where we could see him. But I think the hands up are so cute. We can't wait to meet the little guy in May!

We are having.......

We had our ultrasound yesterday morning and the results were good. Baby looks healthy and is growing right on schedule. Brent was hoping more for a girl, I was hoping more for a boy, the kids were back and forth. (Seemed to be whatever we said we thought the baby was) So the ultrasound tech said "you want to know what sex it is?" "yes" was our answer followed by excitement to finally hear what our last child will be.......... a boy!
We are all pretty excited. Now we have girl, boy, girl, boy. Nice and even. And as Megan stated when we told her she was going to have another little brother "Now we REALLY have to come up with a name!"

So hopefully soon or at least before this baby boy comes we can come up with a name!
I'll post ultrasound pictures soon.

Phrases from a 2 year old

Bed time routine:
get pajamas on
brush teeth
say family prayers
Brent reads Meg and Joseph a story from a chapter book
I read Sarah some books (sometimes Brent does before he reads to the other kids)
time for kids to be tucked in and go to sleep
I sit in Sarah's room in the recliner and wait for her to sleep and when she is asleep the other 2 are most likely asleep so I turn off lamps and go to bed myself

We have been doing this for a long time so they all know the routine....they still like to goof off during the routine though. Last night I was waiting for Sarah to fall asleep. She was not so tired so she wanted to rock with me (the rule is either rock with me and whisper or stay in her bed and lay down)
So I started rocking her, she was whispering all about Woody, Jessi, and Buzz Lightyear....her favorite movies right now, Toy Story. So she whispered and whispered for about 5-10 minutes and finally looks up at me and says "I'm done with those words" I guess she was tired of talking/whispering so much.
I say "are you tired now?"
she whispers "yeah" and was asleep in about 2 minutes.

Most little kids get excited when dads or moms come home. This is so with Sarah. Brent walks in the door the other day and screams, runs around and then goes up to Brent and says "I am so glad your home now!"

I was driving and the kids were getting sick of driving and wanted to get to where we were going. So Sarah says "Move it cars!"

There are always so many cute little phrases that kids say I wish I could bottle them all up and remember them for all the times when they say not so cute things..... (Sarah's new favorite word: stupid)

Fishing....

What I did today:
prepared myself for the day,
cleaned the main living area,
cleaned upstairs (major task- the kids had made a fine mess the past week),
went to Target with 3 kids,
took Megan to a bowling birthday party
came home cleaned some more,
went to pick up Megan,
came home and made dinner,
vacuumed upstairs and downstairs,
now I am sitting here updating this.
It was exhausting cleaning so much, I am getting over a nice head cold. The kids have stayed healthy along with Brent, thank heavens. Tomorrow is another busy sunday with Brent being in another ward and me being by myself. Poor Brent was at church last week from 9:30am-7:30pm, what a long day for him! It won't be so bad tomorrow though.
Brent bought boxing gloves a long time ago for the kids (he used to be a boxer) so Sarah and Joseph are boxing right now! It is pretty cute!
My ultrasound is a week from monday, we are really excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. I think it would be fun to have another boy, so we could have 2 of each but a nice healthy baby is the goal. We still need a name for a boy, if the baby is a girl she will be Katie.
Any ideas for a boy name???

(I labeled this post fishing because I didn't have a whole lot to post about)

uneventful

Yesterday was uneventful but still interesting:

Sarah wanted held most of the day, while I did laundry, vacuumed, did the dishes, just sitting there playing the Wii with Joseph.......I don't know why.... she was just clingy.

Megan was putting her coat on getting ready for school, Joseph had taken a toy from Sarah and she wanted it back, Sarah said "GIVE IT BACK......1.....2.....3.....4....5....." and continued to count to 10. I think she has listened to me to many times count to the dreaded useless 3 when I want the kids to do something. Megan and I got a good laugh about this before she went to school.

Joseph has a new favorite game to play on the Wii, the only problem is is that I have to play it. He can't figure out how to use the remote like a steering wheel. But he loves watching it.

Megan got home from school and seemed to be in a sour mood. She was getting upset over many things. It doesn't help when Joseph just wants to push her buttons and annoy her. She also has 2 loose teeth that are ready to come out, but gets scared everytime we talk about them coming out. She doesn't remember any of her other 7 teeth hurting when they came out but for some reason thinks these next two will hurt! What do I do? (don't mention the dentist pulling them or there will be tears) She thought she chipped a tooth a few days ago and got soooo upset because she thought we would have to take her to the dentist.

In the morning I took a shower, dressed, bathed Joseph and Sarah and let them play in the tub while I did my makeup all within about 30 minutes. They always like to play and this is always a perfect time to do makeup for me, while they are occupied. Well, I think I am getting a LIttle bit anemic with this pregnancy....I almost passed out putting my makeup on. I was then weak for about the next 2 hours. I haven't been takingy prenatel pills because I think the contributed to the morning sickness. So after just about passing out I took one and then another at bedtime. Hopefully they won't make me sick and I won't really pass out.

Sarah had a hersheys kiss and got chocolate on her hands so she wiped them on her blankeys. Since I was doing laundry she wanted them washed, they needed washed so I didn't have a problem with this but wondered if she would. So when it was time to change the laundry, she wanted her blankets in too. (since she had to be with me constantly yesterday) So I let her put her blankeys in the wash, they were the first things in the wash and once she watched them go into the water, she regretted her decision and then wanted them back out. It was a little to late......So for the next 2 hours she was asking for blankeys. Brent finally took them out of the dryer, with her being carried along, and she was much happier. Next time I will wash them discreetly......

So pretty uneventful but I still felt like yestday was plenty eventful.......How was your day?
